Yoga and the Light of Awareness with Sarah Tuttle

Through the practice of yoga, we uncover the light of awareness already within us.

Yoga is a practice of effort, surrender and absorption. Absorption is what emerges when effort and surrender find their balance in the present moment. Absorption is itself a profound act of self-care, a way of returning to ourselves. With absorption, the borders between asana (postures) and meditation disappear. Being in the breath, the posture and meditation become one single flow of awareness.

In this winter workshop, with asana, pranayama, and meditation, we uncover what obscures our inner luminosity. Awareness, like a light, guides you on the path to inner peace. We become restored with energy and vitality, to benefit all beings. We will close our time together with a blessing of light — offered to all beings — overlooking the beautiful Ojai valley.

We provide yoga mats, and we encourage bringing your own props such as blocks, bolsters, straps, and blankets to enhance your practice and ensure your comfort.

Sarah Tuttle started her practice of Iyengar Yoga in Ojai in 1984 and has continued for 42 years. Studying for decades, she became a Certified Iyengar Teacher (CIYT) and Certified Yoga Therapist (C-IAYT). She is the Director of Santa Barbara Yoga Center. A mother of four and grandmother of three, Sarah knows firsthand the transformative benefits a yoga and meditation practice brings. With a keen attentiveness to her student's individual needs, she creates a safe and enriching environment in classes, workshops, and retreats. Sarah is deeply connected to the land and sky of Ojai, and the illumination it brings to one's spirit.

Arrival guidelines: The Meditation Mount gate will open at 9:30 AM offering you time to arrive, connect with the land, and settle in. To honor the sacred container we create together, the Meditation Mount gate will close at 10:15 AM, with no late entry permitted.

To preserve Meditation Mount as a sacred space, we have a policy of no pets, no picnics and no alcohol.
